About Raven Ridge Knives

Four generations of craftsmanship. Every blade forged by hand in Mission Valley, Montana.

A Legacy Forged Across Four Generations

I was born in 1965 in south-central Pennsylvania, where the Appalachian Mountains shaped my earliest years. I grew up outdoors—hunting the ridges, fishing the rivers, and learning how a dependable tool can turn a long day into a good one.

My grandfather was the first to show me what real craftsmanship meant. He forged whatever the farm needed—tractor parts, tools, repairs—turning raw steel into something useful with heat, a hammer, and steady hands. One day I asked if he knew how to make a knife. He simply said, “Let me show you,” and lit the forge. That moment set me on a lifelong path as a bladesmith, carrying forward the lessons passed from my grandfather to my father, and then to me: respect the craft, build things that last, and let your work speak for itself.

A New Chapter in Mission Valley

In the spring of 2018, our family moved to Mission Valley, Montana. The wide-open sky, the mountains, and the quiet strength of this land felt like a natural home for our craft. The valley’s rugged beauty and working-land spirit continue to inspire every blade that comes out of our shop.

Craft Passed Forward

My son was born in 1996, and it didn’t take long to see that the same spark lived in him. He grew up with the same love for the outdoors and the same appreciation for tools that runs through our family. Today, he has stepped into a vital role at Raven Ridge Knives. While I continue to make each blade by hand, he manages the business side and creates the leatherwork—sheaths and gear crafted with the same care and purpose as the knives themselves.

Together, we carry the craft forward, blending tradition with new skill and energy.
